The Brain is the Boss article is a great resource for children interested in the brain and how it works. The article explains the parts of the brain and its purpose in a fun and interesting way. (Grades 5-8)
Brain Pop <http://www.brainpop.com/health/nervous/brain>
This is a really fun site for kids and adults to explore more than 50 topics on health, science and technology. Humorous, animated movies starring Tim and Moby (Tim's robot pal) give a pretty thorough overview of each topic in about 2 minutes. This particular link is to the nervous system, but you can navigate to other topics once you are at Brain Pop. (Grades 3-8)

How about some virtual brain surgery? Actually, in this situation, the surgeon has already removed the skull. It's your job to use an electric probe (i.e., mouse) to stimulate various spots on the brain's motor cortex and watch for body parts to move. When you map all 17 areas, there's a surprise response from your patient! This is a "You Try It" activity from the PBS series, A Science Odyssey. (Grades 4-8)

This site contains interesting facts about the brain and nervous system including a history of neuroscience. It also contains excellent pictures and a few movies. (Grades 8-12)

This is a site designed by students to be viewed by students. It contains information on many systems and parts of the body including the nervous system and the brain. The site contains experiments relating to the systems as well. (Grades 5-10)
Midwest Children's Brain Tumor Center <http://www.childbraintumor.org/kids.htm>
This site contains information for kid's, from a child's perspective, about brain tumors. It covers what a brain tumor is, the symptoms, the treatments, the doctor visits, the hospital and activities to do in the hospital or while waiting for the doctor. It also provides different terminology that goes along with a brain tumor, such as CAT scan and MRI. This is appropriate for all ages; anyone who needs simple straight forward information about brain tumors.

This website is available in English and Spanish. After choosing one or the other the site takes you to a page where you can decide what part of the body you would like to explore. Upon choosing the brain, you are then given the choice of looking at the brain book, the brain parts, or the narrated neurons. The brain book offers a detailed, illustrated guide to various brain facts and functions. The “brain parts” provides a close-up look at the various parts of the brain. Finally, the “narrated neurons” explores the brain's potential in a narrated tour. There is also an in-site search engine. This site is useful for students and teachers. (Grades 4-12)

Students and teachers will find curricular resources (information, content...) to help them learn about this topic.
