How many people do you know have a hamster?  Are you considering owning a hamster or having one in your classroom?  Let's find out the facts!

 

LET’S LEARN MORE ABOUT HAMSTERS!

Task:

The goal of making this website is to inform you, the hamster fans, of all there is to learn about the lovable, furry creatures.  However, owning a hamster is a lot of fun, but it also requires a lot of care and attention.  Here are some things you might consider before owning a hamster:

• What type of home does a hamster need?      
• What type of food does a hamster eat?
• What are some characteristics of hamsters?
• what types of hamsters make good pets?

Process:

1. Learn about the behaviors of hamsters.
2. Learn about what hamsters eat.
3. Look at cool pictures of hamsters.
4. Learn about the different types of hamsters.
5. Learn some tips before buying.
6. Learn more about their habitats.
7. Research which type of hamster, from this website, would make the best classroom pet.  Use your findings to write a journal entry in which you describe which type of hamster would make the best classroom pet and why.

Evaluation:   

Here are some fun activities for you to evaluate your understanding of hamsters.               

• Sketch what your idea of a good hamster home would look like.             
• Create a story about a day in the life of a hamster.    
• Write a letter to a friend explaining how to care for a hamster.

Conclusion:

• What were some of the surprising facts you learned about hamsters?
• What are some things you still would like to know about hamsters? 
• Now that you have learned all about hamsters, do you feel that a hamsters would make a good classroom pet?
