Aquarium is Correct!  Good choice!

An aquarium is the best choice because we can create the snake's habitat in the bottom and the glass sides will keep the snake from escaping while still allowing us to make our scientific observations.  We will have to put a cover on top.  We can plan to allow some small breathing holes in the cover.
