NSTA Rally, 2003
Port Aransas, Texas

Dr. Thomas (sponsor) and newly elected NSTA Chapter Officers traveled to Port Aransas to meet with other emerging Chapter leaders in Texas. Offices (and sponsors alike) were taken with the seafood and vessels -- but did not forsake their allegiance to Texas Tech.
The group got a great science lesson aboard Dr. Rick Tinnin's research boat.  Note the drag net just out of the water. Dr. Tinnin carefully removed each specimen and talked about its unique features, habits, and behaviors.
"This crab is too cute for words." "Hey, see my fish!  Hurry with the picture so I can throw him to the seagulls!"
"If you look really closely, you can see a baby starfish!  They start out so small!" "OK.  So, it's too cloudy for bird watching -- but we're not so sure we really want to see alligators instead."
