The connection between Venichka and Napoleon--a "superman" who, one would assume, would "collapse after the first glass of Hunter's..."--is rather ironic.  Note, however, that Venichka's hostility to supermen comes back with a vengeance as he begins to spit on the rungs of the social ladder.
