Day 1

Exercise 4A & B: Skip this exercise.

 

Monday, Feb. 8 - Wednesday, Feb.10

Day 2

Exercise 1: Write down the sentence you hear before changing it to the negative forms.

 

Day 3

Exercise 1A & B: Write down only what you hear. Do NOT change the sentence as described in the model.

 

Exercise 3: It is important that you look at Аnalysis #8 on neuter nouns that end in -мя on page 65-66 before you begin the exercise. Pay attention to whether you will use имя or время and what case you will need to use.

 

Exercise 4: Before you start, think about the vocabulary you know and what items you might have in a suitcase if you are going to a wedding. DO NOT USE A TRANSLATION MACHINE!! We will recognize it if you do and you will have to rewrite the exercise.

 

Thursday, Feb. 11

Day 4

Exercise 1: Write out the sentences as you hear them and then change the sentence from perfective future to imperfective future. Do only the first four sentences and use the extra space for the new sentences.

 

Exercise 4: Do not do the English to Russian translation. Instead, write an essay in which you describe Texas Tech. What departments do we have? What facilities and amenities? Review the vocabulary from Day 1 for ideas.

 

Friday, Feb. 12

Day 5

Exercise 1: Dasha says in the conversation about her Russian ability, “…я же русская.” The Russian word же is what is called an emphatic particle. The sentence above could be translated as “I’m Russian, after all,” but oftentimes же is not translated at all.

 

Monday, Feb. 15 – Wednesday, Feb. 17

Day 6

Exercise 1: Read through the passage and make sure you understand the vocabulary before you listen to the audio.

 

Exercise 3: Write out the English translation next to each verb at the beginning of the exercise before you start it.

 

Thursday, Feb. 18

Day 7

Exercise 4: Skip this exercise.

 

Friday, Feb. 19

Day 8

Exercise 1: Since this is a dictation, the speakers will repeat each dialogue three times before starting the next dialogue. Listen to the audio all three times before beginning to write.

 

Exercise 4: Review this exercise with your instructor before you do it.

 

Exercise 5: Do not do the English to Russian translation. Instead, write an essay about your semester. What classes are you taking? What exams will you take? What grades do you think you will receive?

 

Monday, Feb. 22

            Exam on Unit 7
