DESCRIPTION

My interest is in the overlap of art and ethics, particularly concerning gender and racial politics. The art world has erased the visual production of many groups, resulting in a greatly reduced artistic legacy for all of us. Similar ostracism in fields such as medicine, science, and public service has created a staggering cultural loss. Visual studies is a means of remediating such culture-wide imbalance. I seek to change art in our schools from a recess-in-your-seat frill to a core subject that acknowledges its own rich and provocative content.
